Hi, I just have one quick question. Are SATA motherboards backwards compatible? That is can you use old ATA hard drives with them. I ask because when I build my new computer I want to use my old ATA hard drive and then when I need a new one buy a SATA hard drive then. Thanks.

You can use your old ATA drive on your SATA motherboard as long as it has an IDE pin on it which im 99.9% sure all will because thats also where you plug in your cd-rw and dvd drives

yes, every motherboard Ive seen with SATA has at least one IDE port...most have more. remember to connect the IDE hard drive to 1 port, and the optical drives (CD, DVD) to the other IDE, to maximize your hard drive speed.
