Thanks for the advice on your start page. I have run through all the processes listed - but the computer is still going slow.

I am using Windows XP home 2002 (service pack 2) with
18.6gb hard disk (2.5 gb free) - Yesterday! Today another 1Gb+ has vanished.
intel® Celeron™ CPU 1100MHz 1.1GHz
184 mb ram

When I start up, the task manager lists 42 process running before I've opened anything! - This seems like a lot but perhaps it's normal. The CPU Usage History graph shows the usage jumping eratically between 2% and 50-100%.

Programs such as word/excel/coreldraw etc. take over 30 seconds and sometimes minutes to open but seem to work ok once loaded up and every so often the computer crashes (hangs?) - at any rate, it restarts itself. Although this hasn't happened since running through your start here page yesterday.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
