Everytime I save a document and think it has saved correctly I go back to open that document and it opens as a "read only" document. Also, sometimes when I save a file a message pops up and says "converter failed to save file". Please help!

Can I ask are you getting this message when your saving files in MS Office or any file overall?

If so what version of MS Office are you using?

I get the message when I try to open a file. When I save it looks like it saves and everything is fine, but when I go to open the file it only opens as "read only" and then I'll hit the convert file so I can make changes and save again, when I go to open the same file again it tells me the converter failed to save.

I'm using MS 2010.

Try installing Office Compatibility Pack:

SP1:
http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

SP2:
http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

This should fix your problem, if it works please let us know so that people can use this for future purposes.
