Like the title says, this is my first build.
I have about an $1500 budget excluding monitor and keyboard (I have a mouse)

I'm going to be using this computer for gaming, and school work, but nothing more than word/excel/etc...
I am really excited about BF3 and skyrim and want to be able to play both with no problems...
On the BF3 site, they have a preliminary system requirements, it's not official but just some where to start
http://enterbf3.com/...equirements.php
As far as storage goes, I have 1 TB external, so space isn't a huge deal.
I don't need to do an video or music editing, just gaming, browsing and writing papers.

It would be awesome to run 2 monitors, but if this is going to cost too much and cost me in performance than I'm not totally set on it.

I don't really know where to start, I could go on newegg and start randomly picking parts but I wouldn't know what's good for my needs or what is compatible.

Thanks a lot!

Hi vip3Rz,:)

Will you need a new OS?

Other software, like Microsoft Office?

Does your case NEED to have flashing light and Bling?

What monitor are you using at the moment?

Have you any other hardware you can port to the new build?

I do not need an OS, and I have microsoft office already available to install.
I don't necessary NEED a flashy case but it's something I would like to have.
I'm using a laptop now and don't have a monitor to contribute or any other hardware for that matter.

So basically starting from scratch haha

Nope, not a typo, I'm keeping my eye out for a cheap U2410 on ebay or something similar to that.

~$1500 is for the case and everything inside basically.

If that was randomly picking parts? it is pretty good bases to start from.

Mobo. My choice would be the Z68 Asrock, good features especially the double width between the PCI-E slots, 2nd, the Asus.

CPU, If Hyper Threading is not essential I would go with the 2500K. Plenty of power for gaming.

RAM. Without heat spreaders as they make no discernible difference in performance and can often interfere with the CPU heatsink and fan.

HDD. > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822152185

DVD. > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827135204

GPU. AS you are considering 2 monitors, you should go for cards with 2GB of memory. Better performance from the ATI cards, (and my preference) but run hotter.

CPU. For now the 750w for single video card, the 850w if you are likely to add another card later. (will have to be re calculated after final selection of the build

CASE. 2 more options.

You will not need an after market cooler.

**********************************************************************

Consider installing a SSD for the OS and games.

Try not to buy your monitor unseen. Go to a store so you can see them, same for a keyboard or mouse. You can ask questions and see the specs on a plate.

What you should be looking for.

21 inch to 24 inch screen.
Min, 85Htz refresh rate, 120Htz would be the best.
5ms response, black to black, not Gray to Gray.
