I have spent a couple of days following other discussion threads. I usually find I get a solution without having to bother you guys.

I recently went to do a scan with Ad Aware (latest version and latest updates) and it closed within about 2 seconds of starting. There are threads that suggest a "+pronuke" switch with Ad Aware. That isn't working with me. I can scan when starting in safe mode (nothing much is found). I have tried another couple of solutions by downloading TDS-3 and A-Squared. They find nothing much, but one of them once gave me a message that worm.mugly had been found. I have since tried cleaning that but it wasn't found.

The identical thing happens with SpyBot.

This evening I decided to uninstall and reinstall both Ad Aware and SpyBot. When I selected "remove" in windows uninstall, the same thing happened again, the uninstall process didn't really even start and shut down (just uninstall not the computer). For no particular reason, I right clicked the Ad Aware icon on my desktop and selected "properties". Again, after about 2 seconds, the properties window closed, and my entire desktop went blank for a couple of seconds and then restored.

Otherwise, the computer is working fine. I am running current, updated versions of ZoneAlarm firewall and AVG antivirus.

Please download Ad-aware Cloak

Instructions are shown on the program.

If you are able for Ad-aware to run please select a full system scan,

And post your logfile here.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the quick response.

I ran the TrendMicro housecall service. I couldn't find how to save the result so I just cut and pasted it. It found JS DRAGDROP.GEN in my temporary internet files. Trend reported that it wasn't cleanable so I clicked delete.

I tried to run Ad Aware using the Cloak you suggested. It gave me another couple of seconds but closed before I could use Ad Aware.

I then rebooted in Safe Mode and, as before, was able to run Ad Aware without the cloak. I checked to make sure I had the latest updates and ran a scan. It found nothing (remembering that the computer hasn't been on-line much since I last ran Ad Aware in safe mode.

Since I didn't have much else to show you, I thought that some Hijack This logs might be of use. They are listed below - the first in safe mode the second in normal mode.

My plan is to clean your computer first then to sort your Ad-aware program.

For this, I will refer you to HJT :tazz:

Please follow the instructions located in Step Five: Posting a Hijack This Log. Post your HJT log as a reply to this thread, which has been relocated to the Malware Removal Forum for providing you with further assistance.

Kindly note that it is very busy in the Malware Removal Forum, so there may be a delay in receiving a reply. Please also note that HJT logfiles are reviewed on a first come/first served basis.

Thanks very much for your help.

Following your instructions (exactly) appears to have resulted in my system being cleaned before it was necessary to post a Hijack This log.
