Key Lag when signing into Yahoo account

Sometimes when I try to sign in to my account with Yahoo, I'm experiencing "key lag" (i.e. when typing, the letters appear much later on the screen the actual keystrokes on the keyboard). It seems to be related to what graphic is being used as a background on the sign-in page. Sometimes I don't have a problem, but the key lag is becoming more and more frequent as the background change almost daily. I use Firefox 3.6.18 right now as a browser and my system had a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor and 768 MB RAM. What could be causing this and is there any way to work around it?
