My son ran a Registry Scan/Cleaner and now he can't connect to the internet.... he can see the Google page, but that's as far as he can get. It shows wireless connection but IE8 will not display... What's the fix?
Thanks.

Try WinsockFix.

Hi there

If the above fails before contacting your ISP (Internet Service Provider) try the following below.

If you are using Internet Explorer please reset it to factory defaults

Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Reset

Please open notepad

Start - All Programs - Accessories - Notepad

Now copy the text below into notepad and save as ipreset.bat Warning this file will automatically restart you computer so please save any work before proceeding

@echo off

ipconfig /flushdns
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
netsh firewall reset
shutdown -r -t 0

For future reference to run on Windows XP you just need to double click the file however on Windows Vista and Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select run as Administrator.

Regards
