Hello,

Whenever I try to open any program...a window pops up with the "Open With". Not sure how much info you need, so I will just try and explain from start to finish.

Few days ago, I went to a website to check imax 3d theater times and was redirected to some site. I closed it and then closed browser and tried to shut off laptop...but my laptop would not shut down, I waited about 15 mins...so I held down the power button and it went off.

Next day, I started computer and every prog I opened gave me that problem. So I rebooted into safe mode and ran Malware...which when I tried to run it gave me the problem again, so I had to browse to the program folder and select it that way. It worked and found a few issues. I forgot to save the file...I know, it was a newbie move...sorry.

So as of right not...if I goto control panel and then add/remove, I get s small pop up that reads

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe"
Application not found

Next, I tried to goto system restore but get that "Open with" and I dont know how to browse to that function.

Can someone please take the time and try to help me out. I know a little bit about computers but as you can tell...not enough. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there lets try this - you may be best to rename Rogue killer to winlogon straight off

Download RogueKiller to your desktop

  • Quit all running programs
  • For Vista/Seven, right click -> run as administrator, for XP simply run RogueKiller.exe
  • When prompted, type 1 and validate
  • The RKreport.txt shall be generated next to the executable.
  • If the program is blocked, do not hesitate to try several times. If it really does not work (it could happen), rename it to winlogon.exe
Please post the contents of the RKreport.txt in your next Reply.

THEN

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    %USERPROFILE%\..|smtmp;true;true;true /FP
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
    hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /64 /rs
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs
