my computer shutdown when i put a dvd in the dvd rom

hello,

I have a problem with my computer it keeps shutting down on its own every time i put a dvd in the dvdrom.>< i restarted the computer from scratch. i dont know why its doing this. t gives me kernal data inpage error blue screen. It hp pavillion 32bit operationg system , 1gb , amd ahthelon 64x2 1.7ghz

please help....

p.s. the dvdrom it not well installed i can pull it out.I am not sure but i have a felling its not suppose to do this.:s....
