XP Login but doesnt get to desktop

When I login under my user name it accepts. Tt looks like its going to my desktop but never does. If I Ctl,Alt,Delete I can log off and login as a diffrent user and it works good. I then can switch users to my account and then it will login and go to my desktop.-To rephrase as long as I login as another user firts and then switch users I can get to my desktop

Try Ctrl+Alt+Del then click on File, New Task (Run). Type explorer and press Enter.

See if that brings up your desktop. If it does, log off then on again and see if it works correctly.
