I tried pressing F12, that failed. I tried Alt+F12, that failed. Does it matter that my XP is the Pro version? Btw...it's good to know that even a pro like you makes mistakes. :)

Nope the version should make no difference, If you could get access to a CD we could use that for a repair..

You're the best, Essexboy! :unsure: Question...does it matter if the CD is just XP or XP Pro? I don't want to screw this up. :)

I have spoken to some friends of mine and they are unwilling to lend me their CDs because it is illegal. I have placed an ad on Craigslist stating I am willing to pay a rental fee in order to use their CD for a repair on my laptop. If someone replies and they feel more comfortable with me using their CD at their home, what is the procedure to do the repair? I will need this info as you may not be online at that time. Thanks! :)

As to the legality, well you do have a valid licence, you are not installing the system fresh - just repairing
