Change Attributes
I have a document on disk that I made. I want to add and delete to the document.
When I bring up the disk properties and click on the box, which says, “READ ONLY” to delete the read only. I get an error message, which says, “An error has occurred. You will need to provide administrator permission to change these attributes. Click to continue to complete this operation.”
When I click to, “Continue.” I get an error box, which says, “An error applying attributes. To the file, ED’S BOOK.doc Action is denied. When I click, IGNORE or IGNORE ALL, nothing happens.
Please, how do I change the attributes to allow me to do updates and take charge again? I am in a world of hurt, here.
Using Win7 and MS Word 2007

Thanks, Eddie460

When you say a disk, do you mean a CD or DVD? Unless the disk is read/write, it is not possible to change the attributes of a file on a read-only disk hence the error.

So you can copy the file to the computer's hard drive and edit it from there but you can't delete the original file from the CD.

To add on to Vino's post:
A CD is in general a read-only medium. Unless you use recordable disc formatted with specific direct CD software, you write data to it once, and can't add data afterwards. Even when using that kind of software, you can only add files, not delete or alter files already on the cd. If you want to store documents on a portable media, and want to be able to alter/delete these documents, I'd advise you use a USB FlashDrive
