Hi
I have used your site before with usetobe who sorted my smitfraud issue. I'm now back with a friends problem. His PC was logging into windows (XP pro) and then as it settles the screen refreshes before any app can be run. I've logged on in safe mode with networking and run all suggested sorts. It now logs on and settles; but it doesn't feel right to me. I went into IE and tried to get to this site and IE shut down and does so every time I retry. As I say I've run adawar, ewido and spybot and we have mcaffee already loaded. Internet access is via a router. The latest updates for sp1 are loaded. HJT below. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I do see a few reasons why IE could be crashing.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Reboot and let me know if that helped.

Hi Metallica
Very quick response there. I ran HJT and it now seems ok. I've briefed my friend on staying clean and post the latest hjt log for your info.

Looks good. :tazz:

In case any files turn out to be missing/damaged, you still have to upgrade to SP2 anyway, so do that first.

Please have a look at my site for some tips on how to remove and prevent spyware.
