My computer seems to randomly crash, anywhere from 1 to 10 times a day. It bassically just freezes up completely, I can't move the mouse or anything.

I've looked through my event application logs and it seems as though the same thing keeps happening. Here's the logs at the time of crash:

I've tried a few things, since it seems to be related to windows updates. I've tried updating to the latest version, turning of automatic updates and even disabling the service from running at all. I even deleted those two files, but they respawned about 5 seconds later! Nothing has worked so far. Please help. I've spent hours hunting google and havent found a solution.

See if this clears one

To register the Wuaueng.dll file, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 Wuaueng.dll, and then click OK.
2. When you receive the following message, click OK:
DllRegisterServer in Wuaueng.dll succeeded.

Try this though you may get wuauclt could not be found

Click Start > Run > Type the following commands in the Open box one at at time and pressing enter after each one

REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll

After re-registering the files, try the Windows Update site again.

Windows stuff cannot be deleted, try to delete the Iexplore folder, it is not possible, I assure and guarantee you that. You cannot go and deleting the stuff windows creates, it WILL remake them and just fills up another 4 bytes in your registry to re-register the file you deleted. The spyware control of windows only checks for sumtin like 46 known stuff. Hitman PRO and other convenient software takes a look at almost 100K files. (k standing for 1000)
To fix the random smackes in the face, you could look if you overclocked your system, if you did, it makes your system a bit more instable. Also look for driver updates. Maybe your mothrboard had a glitch from the start that it cannot work with certain old drivers. I hope I helped you with this stuff.

Argh, It didn't work, the random crash still occurs...

All I've been able to work out is that it only seems to occur when my Internet connection is idle, like when I'm reading a website or just listening to music. I recently started to use Microsoft Outlook Express, I think I started using it about the same time the crashes started to occur. Could it be conflicting somehow?

Thanks for your time.

Try these

http://www.eudora.co...ures/index.html

http://www.eudora.com/email/modes/

http://www.mozilla.o...ts/thunderbird/

You can get a 1TB account here

Microsoft say you need to reinstall SP2 to repair Outlook Express and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone

You can use the SP2 CD to reinstall without removing it first

I never updated to SP2, didn't like it when I had it when It first came out (and from what I've seen people with SP2 have the problem as well =/). I looked around google and it seems the only way to remove outlook express removes internet explorer as well?

Thanks for your help.
