How to Format Windows Vista computer to get a Clean start

i am very new to knowing how to format my Computer. I have had it for 3 years and want to get it back to a Clean Slate. I have not made any restore disc and do not have the original copy of Vista Premium. can I still make the CDs for the Restore or is to late. I have a Partition on the harddrive will this help. Whats some of the precations that need to be done if I Format my Computer. lots of questions<but need help.

Motherboard:::Manufacturer: Asus
Motherboard Name: IPILP-LC

If your system is a name brand and has a Recovery partition you can use that to restore your system back to factory like new state. This will format and put everything back to when the system was brand new.
If there are documents, videos, music, anything like that you need to save you need to do that before proceeding.
The make and model of your system will help in giving you the correct instructions on accessing the recovery partition and using it.

If SRX660's suggestion doesn't help I am including the steps to get access to the recovery partition.

reboot and when you see the compaq logo hit F10


Depending on if it has total recovery or any other option what you are asking is a Destructive or total recovery.

I appreciate all the replys and started saving all pics and files and personal info. I will start the Recovery Today. will let you know how it went. Thanks to ALL with the HELP.
