Hi all!

I'm still new here and I'm curious what services you "allow" Win XP to boot.
This shouldn't be a guide for "how to" but rather a reference list from (and for, of course) interested XP users. There are loads of guides out there, but I din't find any independent list of actual users so far, correct me if I'm wrong...

I'll start of with my own list in alphabetical order, all strikethrough services are non-Windows:

Application Layer Gateway Service (alg.exe)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
COM+ Event Notification
Comodo
DCOM Service Process Launcher
DHCP Client
Event Log
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
NVIDIA Driver
NVIDIA Update
Plug and Play (PnP)
PnkBstrA
PnkBstrB
RAS Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Sandboxie Service
Security Accounts Manager (SAM)
Service for Cryptography <__correct translation needed Posted Image
Shell Hardware Detection

System Event Notification Service (SENS)
Telephony
Windows Audio
Windows Firewall (WF) / ICS
Windows Management Instrumentation
Workstation

Note: I use a dutch version of Win XP, so please forgive me if any translation errors may have occurred...

The services in use and loaded vary depending on the hardware and the software. Therefore to list all services on a per-user-basis is fruitless.

A lovely guide here to the Windows essential ones is here, but if in doubt, don't mess:

What a great guide indeed, thanks for pointing that out to me!
The randomness is just meant as part of the charm...
