Hello I'm still new here and was trying to get a descent avatar.

I'd like the attached file as my avatar, but every time I try to upload it, the "profile-photo" keeps pooping up, badly re-sized I might ad, even after deleting it... Posted Image
And I can't upload a new profile pic as well, same problem,Posted Image

Any help would be much appreciated Posted Image

We use a content delivery network, or CDN to improve site performance. A CDN caches content so that you can pull it from a server close to your location, instead of always pulling from our server located in NYC. The farther you are from NYC, the more benefit a CDN offers.

However, because the content is cached, images like avatars and profile pics are not updated instantly. It generally takes a few hours for the content to be pushed out to all the edge servers. There are some workarounds using the CDN's API, and we'll hopefully be able to implement them soon.

Hi admin, thanks for taking the time to reply me!

I'm Dutch, and although my English is reasonable I don't fully understand your reply. Can I freely translate it like this?

Try again tomorrow...

I would respect that, thanks for founding such a great forum!
And then still even helping the "little guy", kudos!

It looks okay to me. Since the new picture has the same name as the old one (av-351402.jpg), you also have to likely force a recache of your browser (Ctrl + F5).

So you say you're seeing this baby as my avatar? I'm seeing my bike... Also after refreshing, re-opening, both in Chrome and Firefox.

Point made & thanks for clarifying this... I still see my old avatar (the bike), but that then might be for the reasons you explained in your former reply... I'll wait it out, thanks for the reply!

As admin stated, It's probably you're cache on your local machine. I can see your 'space baby' as an avatar.

Chrome has a nice feature to clear the cache;
  • Open the Options Page
  • Go to the Geavanceerde Opties
  • Press the button in the top right that says Browsegegevens Wissen
  • Use that window to clear the cache
I hope that helps.

Regards,
Olrik

I had to look that content delivery network up... But it all makes sense now...
Just to let you know, it took until yesterday (so a couple of days if I'm not mistaking) for my thumbnails to be uploaded (next to comments f.e.), but my "patience" paid off ;)
Again, thanks for the explanation... :)

Echt tof..., ver weg en toch zo dichtbij !
But.., sadly.., yes I knew & tried it several times, to no avail.... :).... until now

You can also press CTRL - Shift - Delete to get instant access to this feature, by the way... Posted Image
