Need help...I got a Sony Vaio last June. Tried to start it and it gives me the VAIO screen then it starts clicking and a black screen with Operating System not found. What can I do..

Clicking almost always indicates a failed or failing hard drive. I hope you have you data backed up, other wise you are probably going to lose it.

You can try this and see what happens: How to Boot to the System Recovery Options in Windows 7

OPTION TWO
Using a Windows 7 Installation or System Repair Disc

Select Command Prompt as the system recovery option you want.
At the Command Prompt, type chkdsk /f /r
Let it run to completion. It can take an hour or more depending on the size of the drive.

If that doesn't help or you can't get to a Command Prompt then you are going to have to replace the hard drive. Do you have a Recovery Disc from Sony? If not, you should be able to order one from the Sony web site.

Thank you...I do not have a recovery disc,and it was not supplied when I got the computers. But I have another Sony Vaio that was ordered at the same time that works..lol..

I am unable to get to anything..everytime I try to do anything it gives me the same thing "Operating System not found"..

I'll have to do it tomorrow, need to buy some disc's I guess...I'll do it on the computer that works and try to it on the other..Hopefully it will work.
