AHH!!! i found it. I went though the services list in msconfig because there were less of them and only put the microsoft/needed ones on as soon as i put the nvidia service it crashed so am going to reinstall my video drivers and let you know :)

Pleased you manage to sort it.
Always use msconfig, for this purpose as on my post, never use services.msc

If it helps here are the standard services settings for XP Professional
