Hi, first of all, I apologize for any ignorance in trying to explain my problem. MyCompaq Presario has Windows XP and every time it starts up it stops at the American Megatrends page and the last words on the very bottom say:
Pri Master Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T. Status Bad,Backup & Replace. Press F1 to Resume-

When I press F1 it goes to a page that says press del to setup

When I press delete, it brings me to the setup, but it keeps sending me back to the above page.
I also tried starting it up while holding the f8, f5 and f10 buttons (one at a time), and after I choose safemode, it takes me back to that first page above. Can't get out of that loop. I am really green on tech terms please be gentle in your replys. thank you

It seems that your Hard Drive is (or has already) failing. You can post a new topic here and ask for help on how to get backup of your data and replace the drive
