No matter... one way is to install a pdf printer such as >CutePDF< or >Bullzip<

To create a pdf, simply print the document, spreadsheet, or pretty much any file to the pdf driver.

Today, there are many free online converters that transform in seconds your document from Word to Pdf format.

I often use service http://go4convert.com.  This online converter helps to convert different formats to Pdf with one click.

You can install OpenOffice, then open a document in it and select Export to PDF option. I am not sure though if you first need to save a file as natime OpenOffice format odt but I am sure this software is capable of doing it

Best way is Google docs. Upload document to your Google Drive, then select Save as option of File menu, there you'll see a list of formats, one of them is PDF.

I don't understand why you need all those all tricks and applications. Nowadays the Microsoft Word program comes equipped with this feature, via the Save As option.
