I don't understand why you need all those all tricks and applications. Nowadays the Microsoft Word program comes equipped with this feature, via the Save As option.

Nope, I haven't noticed it till now.
Why don't you use Microsoft Office Add-In to convert documents to pdf.
For Microsoft Office previous versions, they are providing a Add-in to save as PDF option.
Just download Save As PDF ADD-In from Microsoft and install. It is free.
Using an application built by Microsoft may safe than third party applications
