Are you referring to ctrl-alt-del before the log on screen appears?

Well I would suspect your keyboard. Download and burn Puppy Linux and boot from it to test that your crtl, alt, and del keys are working properly. I found a online keyboard but unfortunately it only reacted to my ctrl key...not alt and no delete key.

EDIT: Here's one that can test ctrl, alt and del: http://gate2home.com/English-Keyboard
