Stuck really need help please! I thank you in advance for your suggestions & input!

Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop-ONLY HAS USB Keyboard/Mouse ports
XP Pro

The wireless router was hacked, and the PC had multiple infections, AV not working, lots of IE toolbars installed on it's own. I believe I cleaned the PC-using rkill.exe, and mbam, but was still having problems with it...Not wanting to start normally- would have to boot into safe mode- then restart and would boot normally.

Just want to reinstall the OS- XP Pro.

System will boot to black screen with flashing cursor
Will boot into OS
Will boot to safe mode and BIOS, have cleared CMOS & restored BIOS defaults.

Decided to reinstall OS: USB KBD freezes while install CD menu loads

When I boot to the XP Pro CD, the keyboard works to pick "press any key to boot to CD..." The lights are on on the kbd, and then as the install menu is loading- the kbd lights go out & I can't pick anything. Ctrl Alt Del works to reboot & the cycle continues...

I know the kbd works, I use it with all my PC's...

Pls HELP! Desperate!
