Hello, i bought a dell xps 7100 last year with the 1090T and 5870, it has 8 gig of ram in it but only 4 gig seem to be working, i removed the 2 modules that are no longer working (tried cleaning the slots with compressed air and reseating the ram...to no avail). I'm not interested in paying a rediculous amount of money to get dell ram, so now im curious to weather or not these will work.

The specifications are exactly the same other then my ram says 10600 and these are 10666, i've also heard that doesn't mean anything. Can anyone help me?

Hi Mason24
Are you running W7 32-bit or 64-bit, have you tried the 2 sticks of Ram that you have removed in place of the 2 that are presently working and is the PC still covered by warranty.

NB: Your attached link is not working.

Ya i've tried everything to get them to go, i think they are just dead. Warranty is done. I'd replace them with the ones from dell, but i don't understand why they charge so much more for theyre memory.

You do not need to purchase the Ram directly from Dell, use the Crucial system scanner tool to get the best recommended
Ram details for your computer http://www.crucial.c...:20100901184937 write down the recommended Ram specs and then shop
around for the best deal we can also help with this if you let us know the specs.
