Hi Carlos and welcome.

Pick a different one! Sadly you did not tell us which browser you use. Assuming IE9, click on the Tools icon (the gear sprocket) and select Manage Add-ons. Click Search Providers in the left side panel. From there, you can add or remove providers, and change the default.

Ask drives me nuts. Now the Java updater is offering it too. :)

Also in IE9 you can choose to prevent programs from suggesting changes.

All the more reason to ALWAYS chose the custom install option when installing ANY program or update to a program. If you just use the default installer, you will likely get all kinds of stuff you don't want or need foisted on your machine.

Go into Programs and features ... uninstall the Ask toolbar, then go into C:\Program Files\ and delete the Ask folder.
Reset your 'default' search engine.

Edit: Remove Ask Toolbar of Firefox Browser

1. Click Tools on the top of Mozilla Firefox window.
2. click the Add-ons to open the toolbar list.

3. Select the ask toolbar and click Disable or Uninstall button to disable or remove it completely.

@Carlos - Please do not go back and edit your posts unless no one has replied to it yet. We don't notifications of edits, only new replies.

For a second, I thought Jacee had read your mind or something to learn you were using FF.

No problem - note that's how most forums work. Since there are no notifications, it can result in delays in getting help. In your case, Jacee saw the edit and stepped in so no problems there either.

Did you get your problem sorted out?

Are you using Norton/Symantec or Spybot's TeaTimer?

Yeah, it would seem you have something set that block you from changing it. In IE on the page I described above, there is a checkbox to prevent changes. Make sure that is unchecked. I assume FF has something similar and I suspect that is what Jacee is getting at with here Norton and Spybot suggestions.

Apparently it's part of Norton. See how to disable it here http://us.norton.com...1710EN&ln=en_US
