Good Morning

I took delivery of an HP Pro with the following specs AMD X345 3.10 ghz 3gb Ram windows 7 64 bit pro
My problem is that within a couple of months or so of ownering the PC, it stopped opening tabs withing IE9, all I get is a blank tab, the only way I can get a hyperlink to open within an email or web site is to copy and paste...
Read a lot of how to cure this but nothing has worked, havent done some of the "heavy" suggestions yet....

I'm hoping you have seen this before and can help

Hi Kevin and welcome.

Have you scanned for malware?

Note that most problems with Internet Explorer are due to conflicting or misbehaving add-ons. You can run without add-ons by clicking on the Start orb and start entering in the search box, Internet Explorer and you should see "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" appear. Click that and see if still having problems.

Alternatively, I recommend you reset Internet Explorer. Click on Tools > Internet options > Advanced, then click "Reset..." to take IE back to it's default settings.

Thanks for your reply.... No I have not done a specific scan, have bullguard AV.... Reading on the Net, it does sound like a known problem and those buggers at MS should fix it!!!
Will try your reset later and report back

Ummm, no - I don't think you can blame Microsoft for this one or it would be a major problem for many - and I am not finding that is the case. A blank tab is still a tab so it seems IE is acting correctly. So it is more likely a setting, or a network issue, or malware.

Tried loading no add on, No Difference
Set Tab as kindly sent to me, no differnece

What does IE open to when you start IE?

Hello

When I start IE 9 it goes to my home page which is google...
The links I posted are, the first one is where a tab should take me and the second one is what is actually in the top address bar on IE9, which just gives a blank page

For your links, are you only having problem here at G2G? I am really confused that the 2nd page would go to a G2G page when you said the tab was blank, I assumed the address bar said about:blank or something similar.

No saying blank page was a bit missleading.... Sorry
This happens on any page where there is a hyperlink that should open another tab/page, doesnt happen on this site on the forums etc, it always has the web site in the address bar, except the address is wrong and all you have is a blank page...
Hope that explains it a bit clearer, and thank you for all your help so far
