Seagate ST33000651AS Barracuda XT Hard Drive

The Seagate ST33000651AS Barracuda XT Hard Drive offers customers a compelling new storage choice for high-capacity, high-performance computing solutions. Unlike other 3TB solutions, which require additional hardware to access full capacity, the Seagate ST33000651AS Barracuda XT Hard Drive can use DiscWizard software to easily configure your computer system to access the entire 3TB capacity—even on legacy Windows XP-based systems. Further turbocharged with a huge 64MB cache and the industry’s new, high-performance SATA 6Gb/s interface, the Seagate ST33000651AS Barracuda XT Hard Drive continues to set the standard for high-performance, high-capacity desktop storage

If you are running Vista or Windows 7 then be sure to initialize this hard drive using GUID rather than size limited MBR. We have all been though these HD size limitions at least a dozen times before in the past 20 years. Hopefully GUID is the end of that. GUID will format to 8ZB. 1024 terabytes is 1 petabyte. 1024 petabytes is 1 exabyte and 1024 exabytes is 1 zetabyte. Be sure also, that your motherboard actually has 6Gbps SATA plugins.

The item is currently out of stock, and don't forget that TigerDirect usually charges shipping which makes their prices less hot.

Alternatively, HITACHI Deskstar H3IK30003272SW (0S03208) 3TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive for $149.99 with free shipping after promo code EMCKAKD23.

Or, if you don't need the speed of a 7200RPM drive (ie. the drive will mainly be used for storing documents, music, video, etc. rather than installing programs)... HITACHI Deskstar 0S03230 3TB 5400 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive for $129.99 with free shipping.

Now this is what this forum is for. Someone finds a good tech deal and then someone comes in with alternative deals that give users a multitude of options.
Seagate, Hitachi or a slower speed Hitachi.... now the user has three choices depending on what they like and the budget they have.
