It all depends upon what Direct-X you have. Some cards run on direct-X 8 and some need Direct-X 10. Here's some good ones. I would choose either a 5200, 6200 or a 8400 Nvidia card, simply because i have always had more problems with ATI cards.

If you have a AGP slot then these would work.

You need to look at the size(length and width) of the cards to make sure they will fit. Open up the computer and measure the space to get a basic idea of the sizes that will fit in there. Personally i would not spend much money on that old of a computer. Upgrading to a windows 7 comp with a i3 CPU will give you a comp that will run just about any game made and you do not have to think about the computer failing.

For the price of most of the video cards you can buy the whole computer. The power supply is marginal but i ran many comps with FX5200 video cards on 250 watts. I keep some old AGP video cards around to check older comps that come to me for repairs.

Yes, any AGP video card will usually work, and the 6200 is a pretty good card. Make sure you have at least DirectX 9 on your computer. Also check dimensions inside your computer case. The card is: Length=4.25" Height=2.71".

I do not have a similar computer around here, so i cannot measure it to see if the card will fit. Beyond this and you will find a limited number of PCI video cards simply because the PCI slot is obsolete so they don't make the cards anymore. When the stock of new cards start to dwindle they just quit advertising them and auction off the remaining cards to specialty suppliers.

yes, you can download Direct X from the internet. Most versions are available. Just check your version or there may be DX9 on the drivers CD you get with the video card.

To disable the onboard graphics you go into the BIOS and set it to disable( most newer computers do this automatically when a graphics card is installed), but you need to check the manual for this. If you do not know how to move around and change things in the BIOS i would suggest finding a GEEK friend that can help you.

Once you have disabled the onboard graphics, then save the changes and shut down the computer, ground yourself well( keep touching a bare part of the case often while working on it to get rid of static electricity), open up the computer for access, and install the video card. Put the cover back on and restart the computer. You should get a ugly 640x480 screen, then you install the video drivers from the drivers CD. Read the directions that comes with the video card because they may want you to install the drivers before you install the card.

Once the drivers are installed you set the display properties to where you want. Usually on a 17 inch flat screen 1024x768 up to 1600x1280 range. Just set it to what you like with the icon and text sizes.

You should be good to go after all that.

You need to download the service and users manual so you can read up on what to do.
