I have 2 dvd read/write in my pc desktop. When I put a dvd into the drive, windows does not read it, and says "blank cd", even though there is either data, music, or video on it. Can someone help me with this problem. The dvd's are fine, they play on my laptop. I am running Windows XP. Thanks.

Writeable DVD`s Ie: DVD-R etc.
Will the drive recognise ANY disc. ie: Will it recognise a CD.
Make and model of the computer if branded.
In Device Manager for the drive are there any wanrings please against the entry.
Were any of the DVD`s if they are writeable or rewriteable made on this computer.
Have you tried going to device manager, and if there are not any warnings, have you tried reinstalling the driver and then on reboot allowing Windows to find the driver.

If no success there please work your way throught this Microsoft article

OR post back with details as requested and we can guide you step by step if you require that sort of help.
