My DVD didn't work, and gave this error message:
""Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I fixed it by deleting the upper and lower limits in the registry. So all is well.
But what did I do? What ARE the upper and lower limits, and how did they go bad?



I tried to delete my original post when I fixed it, but couldn't; so I changed the questions. Thanks

They didn't "go bad". Some burning applications add those filter entries in the Registry for closer integration with your optical drive.
That sounds good except those filters can interfere with the correct operation of the drive if several filters are competing for resources
with the vital optical drive related filters installed by Windows elsewhere in the Registry.
