I wouldn't consider .tk a good extension for a domain name. ".tk is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand located in the South Pacific.." See Overview.

There are very good web-hosting, adds free, php/mysql supported and many features. The best sites are:
1. Zymic
2. FreeHostia
3. 007Sites

I would recommend you Zymic. The 007site outlook is not good, but it works really great

No, I think Google Sites use only their tools or Python. You can run LAMP on Amazon's cloud instances.

A few years ago Microsoft Office offered a free domain and hosting, but I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. For one, malware authors would abuse such a service.

A few years ago it was free at Office Live Small Business. Two years ago they started charging $15.95 a year.

last month while working on my Boy Scout web site I have with them I ran across an article that the Office Live Small Business is transitioning to their Office 365 in February 2012.
It was interesting because they sent no notices or emails or anything.
They say you can back up and restore the site, but their backup is saving your pictures and data. There is no way to easily move with them.

Anyone that has a web site with them will lose their site sometime in February. The site will be wiped out.
Their new price for office 365 is about $6 per month.
