hi!

i can't get my computer to boot. i'm not a pro when it comes to computers but i do have some basic knowledge. this is my problem:

last night my security (avast) warned me of suspicious files or viruses but said that i needed to take no further action. when i later tried to reboot i found the following:

Verifying DMI Pool Data............ Update Success

And that's where it stuck.

I've tried to make a restart disk, but then it says:

The following file is missing or corrupted: DISPLAY.SYS
There is an error in your CONFIG.SYS file on line 1

The following file is missing or corrupted: COMMAND.COM
Type the name of the Command Interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)
