OK lets commence :)

We will start with the services :

Visit BlackVipers page
Scroll down until you get to the table
Click the safe heading
Set your services to the state described there


Reference Qualys Browser Check I have never actually used that - I work with the filehippo updater and that suits my needs. But, I will have a play. Although I do not have Java installed

For the Volume bar problem I have never come across that before, I just checked on my system and there is no ping when I scroll the sound up or down ? But I will investigate

1) I changed the services as per that table.

3) Ofcourse there is a ding when you move that thing inside the Volume Control up and down. Check this page, someone had a similar prob: http://www.computing...ing/169323.html

Hmm - although I must admit it is a few years since I used XP - so let me install that on my VM to check it out :)

Lets try this

Download the attached zip file and extract the reg file to your desktop
Right click the reg file and select Merge
OK the warnings

Now try the slider

It's still not there. Also, I forgot to tell you that also, the startup and shutdown sounds are missing too.

Can you go to control panel > Sounds and ensure that they are set please
