Hi my name is Vincent! After looking through the internet for forums on custom builds, I decided to join this one after seeing all of the friendly and wonderful contributors on here.

Any help or suggestions for a desktop build that revolves mainly around music production as well as a little bit of video editing and gaming would be very much appreciated. I am on a $500-$700 budget, don't mind going over a little. All I do know is that I want to start out with at least an i5 processor or something similar. Thanks!

After scavenging the forums, I found this build that Josh Wright posted:

CPU: http://pcpartpicker....-bx80623i52500k ($214.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: http://pcpartpicker....ler-rrb10212pg1 ($24.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: http://pcpartpicker....board-p67ag45b3 ($134.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: http://pcpartpicker....310666cl9d8gbsr ($48.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: http://pcpartpicker....d-drive-hd103sj ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: http://pcpartpicker....card-hd695xznfc ($217.55 @ Newegg)
Case: http://pcpartpicker....-li-case-pck58w ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: http://pcpartpicker....r-supply-hcg750 ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: http://pcpartpicker....drive-ad7260s0b ($19.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $881.45

I was wondering if there were any modifications too it that would make it a little cheaper and more in my price range?

Hi Vincent Posted Image

That build was at the beginning of the topic, read the whole topic. . If you scroll down to post #5, you can find an updated build. You can also follow the 2 links and see how Josh did his pricing research.

Is that the kind of build you want?
Is it closer to your budget?

I can tweak some more.

Two things.

1. I don't see an OS listed. With 8Gb of RAM, you need a 64-bit OS. Also, note you cannot use an OEM license that came with another computer on this new build. New computers need new licenses.

2. The use of 3rd party coolers on retail boxed versions of CPUs violates the terms of the CPU warranty.

Made any decisions yet?
An update would be most welcome.
