hi,

pls help me in dis one...... der is one prefererence that i cannot select, it is: 2)During removal, unload explorer and IE if necessary. it seems to be always unchecked. anyway i have a hunch that the program might just be confused because my pc is kinda whacked after all the trojans, adware that had invaded my pc. a month ago my IE was infested by a trojan horse dialer so i uninstalled it although the trojan still remained in my pc, now i can't re-install it because i have no IE 6.0 installer. btw i'm a newbie and not really a computer literate. tnx

anyway i'm referring to step 1:scan for spyware/adware in ad-aware se: cleaning engine instructions....

tnx,

Ok, but my pc connection is too slow for an online scan plus it always hangs when i conduct one. I have already conducted a scan using ad-aware and have some results.
Q:should i erase them immediately after quaratinine?

tnx,

In order to assist you, we need to see the log from an Ad-Aware SE 1.06r1 full system scan.

Important Note! Before performing a scan, be sure that you have the most recent definitions file by using WebUpdate. (Click on the Globe icon, Click connect, Click OK, Click Finish.) At this current point * SE1R49 31.05.2005 * is the most recent definition file.

Ad-Aware SE comes preconfigured with default options so we need you to make only one change. Please deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat. This option can be changed when choosing your scan type.

Select "Perform Full System Scan" and press "Next". When the scan has completed, click "Show Logfile".

Please copy/paste the complete log file here using the reply button. Don't quarantine or remove anything at this time, just post a complete logfile. This sometimes takes 2-3 posts to get it all posted. You will know you are at the end when you see the "Summary of this scan" information has been posted.

When you have posted your log here, Team Lavasoft can advise on what to do next.

Please post back if you have any questions or other problems.

Good luck

Andy

Hi,

I've already posted my scan logfile. While i was scanning with ad-aware AVG detected a trojan horse and could not heal it so i put it in the virus vault.
The file is:
A0035550.CPY
C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\
Trojan horse Collected.6.BK
none healable, moved object

what will i do with this??
anyway there was a problem that i encountered before (which got me to the site in the 1st place) some of my system registry files and dll files were being altered by a trojan horse causing my pc to hang and adding obscene pop-up windows and icons to my IE. I followed a step-by-step healing procedure(Hijackthis!) in another forum here and fortunately fixed the problem( i hope so), although not completely with some remnants as i stated above. how can i heal this??

tnx 4 d help,

Your logfile above seems clean. :tazz:

C:\_RESTORE\TEMP\

part of the trojan is in the system restore folder.

It is a read only folder and the file will cycle out in the future.

Though if it doesn't cycle out and you do a system restore then you might of restored the trojan.

To clean your system restore folder:

IMPORTANT NOTES:

You must be logged in as an Administrator to do this. If you are not logged in as an Administrator, the System Restore tab will not be displayed.
Turning off System Restore will clear out all previous restore points.

NOTE: These instructions assume that you are using the default Windows XP Start Menu and have not changed to the Classic Start menu. To re-enable the default menu, right-click Start, click Properties, click Start menu (not Classic) and then click OK.

To turn off Windows XP System Restore:

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" as shown in this illustration:
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
8. Proceed with what you need to do; for example, virus removal. When you have finished, restart the computer and follow the instructions in the next section to turn on System Restore.

To turn on Windows XP System Restore:

1. Click Start.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."
5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Hope this helps

Any other problems?

To keep your computer safe
-Make sure you have all critical updates installed.
-To make sure that you have got a firewall running when your connected to the internet and Anti-virus software which has the latest updates.

Two great sites to check for good advice and top rated software are http://members.acces...ntomPhixer.html and http://www.spywareai...p?file=toprated
