Hey! I purchased microsoft office but it only runs on windows 7. My netbook has windows 7 starter so I know that it will update fine, but my dell has vista and needs a bunch of updates before it can update to windows 7. I have tried everything on the microsoft troubleshooting in order to download service pack one. I tried downloading the standalone version and the update advisor thing which didn't install at all. I tried running windows update but it freezes and doesn't update. Sometimes it seems to work at first but then it says that "update was not possible, reversing changes made" then restarts. I can't get the service pack to install and i'm going insane!

That's not true. What version of Office are you talking about? I note Office 2010 System Requirements are Windows XP (must have SP3) (32-bit), Windows 7, Windows Vista with Service Pack (SP) 1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2 and MSXML 6.0 (32-bit Office only), Windows Server 2008, or later 32- or 64-bit OS.

I can't get the service pack to install

I am not sure of your complaint. Your subject says Vista updates, but there you talk about service pack. It sounds like you are trying to update Vista on your Dell to Windows 7 SP1 - is that right? If so, you cannot do that. To upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, you must buy a Windows 7 upgrade license.

Did you run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?
