I'm on LG Optimus One P500 with Android v2.3.3

There is a standard option in Android in the settings of Messages, named "Text Message Limit". What does it actually mean?

If it means I cannot have more than 200 (default value) messages per conversation, then its not working because I have 218 messages in a conversation, which only lead me that either its not working or its doesn't work the way I am thinking.

I was thinking maybe they changed sms standards and bumped up to 200 characters per message, after reading your post... But to my demise, nope. We are still at the 160 max, with some networks falling clear down to 70... of course those networks are nearly obsolete(in the USA anyways, I haven't checked elsewhere). I have several android devices... None of them have default keyboard apps, so I may not have the ability to check what you are looking for, due to the fact that it may be built into the keyboard app settings?. I have no messages settings in the settings area of my phones or tablets.

I am running 2.3.4 and above on all devices, so I am wondering if they changed something. and of course each manufacturer/provider has their own software that comes pre-loaded on he devices... andI don't have any LG products.

The only thing I could come to with my current experience with androids, is possibly after 200 characters the device converts to a mms message instead of sending two sms messages. although all of my phones have mms conversion after 160 characters, thus a multi-sms message gets changed over to mms before it even has the chance to post two sms messages instead.

Now if you are correct about it not having more than 200 messages per conversation, check the first message in the conversation, possibly it removes them as you go, but keeps a tally count? I'm just in a grasping at straws attempt here.

Hope someone has your answer?

st0ll3n, nothing personal, but your first 3 paragraphs have nothing to do with the problem i described. You were literally mentioned things outside the problem's domain. In the 4th, yes you got the point.

Well, even if i consider your situation, then the count is accurate, as it decreases when i delete some texts. The problem is that it doesn't automatically deletes the texts. There is one more thing which is bugging me, but i'm more willing to test it rather than bragging about it first.

do you have 18 PICTURE ONLY messages? if so, that's why. there should be another "limit" somewhere saying how many picture messages you can have as well.

On my ROM (MIUI, not that it matters), there is an SMS limit (default 200/conv) and an MMS limit (default 20/conv), however my limits do not take effect until I enable the option "Delete old messages", at which it enforces those limits.

I can't verify that this is the same on your phone, since every Android phone seems to have a slightly different setup, but that's the gist of it. Look for an option to delete old messages, then those limits matter.

Good luck! :)

I think Shady is right. Picture messages definitely have something to do with it. On my android I have 2 threads right next to each other. One stays at 200, and the other is parked at 235. Furthermore, (drum roll pease)... the one with 235 has 35 picture messages in it. Bingo!

There is no limit to send the SMS and MMS. I don't know the conversion is available or not.I think the android application is best. It's an advanced one.So many other new facilities are available.
