Good evening. This morning I thought I put my computer on "Stand By", when I came in this evening, it had restarted but while restarting, it had an error that said something to the effect that it could not boot from a CD. I restarted the computer, and it everything was alright. I left it on, and had some windows open. 20 minutes later it had the same thing, could not boot from CD and wouldn't even restart.

I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.

I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.

If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed.

If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:

• Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
  
• Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
  
• If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
  
• In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
  
• If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
  
• Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
  
• Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
  
• I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together
  Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
  
• Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
  Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.

I'm not entirely sure that this maybe a Windows issue.

From the sounds of things, it sounds like there maybe a possible issue with your hard drive.

I would like to have you run the hard drive diagnostics scan. You'll need to visit the following link and locate the appropriate tool for the brand of your hard drive.

The program will most likely provide you with an .iso for the file, and you will want to use that as it's a bootable CD.

If no .iso is present please proceed with the .exe version of the scan.

If an .iso is present, you will need to download a tool like ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com to create the disc, and then boot up from it, and run a scan with it.

If you encounter any issues, or need any assistance, please feel free to ask for clarification or assistance before proceeding.

Direct Download Link.

After it's finished downloading double click on the installation file to run it.

Once it's been installed, run it and proceed with running a scan.

It'll take a bit for it to scan your computer and get the information it needs.

Once it's done that, please go to File and click on Save as Text file.

Save it to your Desktop.

Submit it to my submission channel for me here.

Post back after you've submitted it for me, and I'll review the text file and hopefully get the information I need.

According to that scan you ran you have a Western Digital Hard drive installed on the computer.

You will want to download this file: http://support.wdc.c...&sid=30&lang=en

It's a direct link, and then you'll need to use ImgBurn to burn/create the CD.

If you do not already have a suitable burning program for writing .ISO images to disc ...

• Download and install ImgBurn.
• Ensure that you UN-check the box agreeing to install the Ask toolbar during the installation.
• Place a new (blank) CD disc in the drive tray.
• Choose Write image file to disc.
  
  • Under Source, click on the Browse button: Navigate to and select the .ISO file that you wish to burn.
  • Place a check-mark in the box beside Verify.
• Click
  
• When the CD has been burned and verified as successful, it will be bootable.

Thank you for the links. Since I am not able to find a CD, I will have to do this tomorrow after I go to the store. Once I download the .iso to the CD, do I then reboot my computer and select to reboot from CD?

Okay, that's fine. Yes, you will want to reboot your computer and allow it to boot from the CD. By booting from the CD it allows us to run the scan via an external environment, and should provide more accurate results.
