Add on. I don't have the right adapter to just hook it upto my Motherboard.
Going to try moving it to another PCI slots.

Yeah I think you need to first try another slot and if that doesn't work then you will need to find a adapter or a different monitor with the right connection.

I would say the culprit is the Motherboard at this point.

hi everyone thanks for some great info on here
i had the same problem pc would boot up for a few seconds and switch of was going to chuck it it was driving me nuts
checked the power supply with a tester everything ok
removed cmos battery and replaced
removed memory and used the eraser
checked all connections on hard drives
made sure all cards were pushed down properly
tried restarting
this time it started up i went into bios and saw temp on cpu was 65 and rising in a few seconds it hit 80 and swiched of again
there is no way it can get that hot fan was working ok so i thought i would remove cpu and check that
as i was about to do it i noticed one of the clips that hold it down come lose so heatsing was not sitting properly i thought surley cant be that simple
pushed it back in to place and vola been 3 days and 100% ok temp only running at 32c
so once again thanks for all the help
and make sure heatsink if firmly sitting in place
