Hi.

Can anyone please tell me how to transfer everything from an 8GB microSDHC card to a 32GB microSDHC card.
They are both SanDisk and approved for my phone.

My HTC Desire HD phone came with an 8GB card, to which I have saved many apps, pictures, music etc.
I wish to use a much larger card so I can take HD videos and store them on the card as well.

Will the new 32GB need to be formatted first?

Can I just dismount my 8GB card from the phone, put it in a reader adaptor and connect it to my PCs via the reader slot. Copy all the contents to the PC and then put the new microSDHC card in the reader, put that in the PC using an adaptor, copying the contents back onto the new card and mount that in my phone, or am I missing something important?

I've never had to do this before, so I have no prior knowledge or experience in doing this.

As I have PCs using XP, Vista and Windows 7 is any O.S. better than the others for doing this?

The easiest method is my preference as I'm NOT technical. Many thanks.

It is as easy to do as you suggest. I personally use windows explorer on my vista laptop to transfer my homemade ringtones, themes, etc, to the micro SD cards i use in my blackberry phones. I have a folder on the laptop that i put all phone data into and use micro adapter SD cards in the SD slot on the side of the laptop. I did not format the cards so they are as i bought them. I also backup all card data to my PC using folders for each phone. This does not backup contacts, or apps on the blackberry phone's so i use Blackberry's desktop manager for that.

Funny that that my win 7 desktop will not see any SDHC cards anymore and i have been looking for months for a fix for this. When i first built the comp it worked with SDHC card's but after transferring 60 gigs of music from a XP computer it quit seeing the SD cards above 2 gigs. I've found a lot of people with the same problem. I'm still trying to figure it out. Since i have a vista H-P laptop that does see the SDHC cards i just use it.

A second thing you need to think about is some phones will not see a 32 G micro card. My blackberry curve 8530 will not see my 32 gig card but does see my 4 gig card. Maybe a 3 year old phone does not have the right drivers for larger cards. I have not checked my storm 9550 to see if it will see a 32 gig card yet.

I use the same methods above for my wife's Android samsung interceptor phone. Now she wants a iPhone4S so it looks like i get to learn something new.

Thanks SRX660.

As I'd had no replies (until yours) I just went ahead and gave it a go in the end.
I'm pleased to say it was very easy and (luckily) without problems.

I've been quite adventurous with my new smartphone (HTC Desire HD) and am very impressed with how easy it has been to use. It's very intuitive and most tasks/functions have been incredibly easy to do.
I still have a few issues - like why synchronising Microsoft Office Outlook with the phone throws up some anomalies (where appointments "disappear" or are duplicated, and why I seem to get multiple contact details and so on).

All in all though I've been VERY pleased.
I'm SO glad I had a change from Nokia, which I've always used. Their software became SO bad with PCSuite and then Ovi that I lost all my preference and changed brands.

Cheers for your help though, I appreciate it.
