Hi,

I've just run a hijack this scan and noticed that a number of the 023 services have 'files missing' and/or 'uknown owners'
there isnt anything particularly wrong with my laptop, with the exception that it has slowed down a lot recently. i was just wondering if it would be safe to 'fix' the 023 services with missing files/owners? i have put up the scan log; also if anyone fancied looking through the rest of the log and pointing out anything else that can be 'fixed' that would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance
Kirsty xx

If you do that your system will probably stop functioning... Hijackthis has not been updated now for a fair few years and does not know how to read a 64bit system properly

Also it does not look at the current malware hijack points

OTL will give better results

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    C:\Windows\assembly\tmp\U\*.* /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs
