Kiwi Linux DVD/CD burning

For some reason I can't burn or read CDs or DVDs with my DVD/CD Burner while using Kiwi Linux.... I'm not sure why; I can't even mount the media in the drive... and none of the burning programs that I've downloaded (e.g. K3b, Brasero, and etc.) will recognize any of the media that I place in my burner.
