Hi! I've been looking everywhere for solutions to this problem. I found some, though they are not applicable to this situation since they always assume that the HDD should appear in Disk Management, but it doesn't. I've tried changing cables (even used the Y cable), tried different USB ports, tested on other computers with different OSes (Mac, Linux, Windows) but it still doesn't show. When I plug it in, I can feel the HDD working properly and it also lights. But it doesn't appear anywhere. I tried plugging in my other HDDs and flash disks, and they work properly.

So what happened before was, my Seagate was corrupted. Then I fixed it by checking for errors and fixing the errors. And thankfully, it worked. I can open it properly. But when I tried to copy files, it was so slow so I safely removed it and tried it with my mom's MacBook Pro. When I plugged it in the MacBook, it appears in the Desktop but when I opened it, the files won't show and it was just reading and waiting forever. So I just tried to eject it. But it won't eject so I just disconnected it 'cause I figure it won't damage anything since I didn't open anything. So I went to my laptop running Windows 7 and I plugged the HDD again. This time it doesn't show up in My Computer and anywhere for that matter. I can see it just a few minutes before and then suddenly I can't.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with this. I got important files in that HDD. Thanks in advance!

First thing to do is download the seatools from Seagate web site and run the program

If the windows version does not detect the drive download the dos iso version burn the iso to a disk disconnect any other drives connect the Seagate drive only then boot from the cd or if you can take the drive out of the case and connect it to a computer then try the dos version

So yeah you were right, SeaTools for Windows can't detect my hard drive. I'm downloading the DOS ISO version now.

Sorry it took a while. Anyway, I tried what you said, burned the DOS ISO version and booted from CD. But still it can't detect my hard drive.

By the way, I remember one more thing that I did in my mom's MacBook. After I unplugged it there, I plugged it again and something popped out, where I need to initialize the hard drive. I clicked Initialize but nothing seemed to happen and I tried again. And for the last time, instead of clicking initialize, I clicked the Ignore option. Just giving all the details that could have affected my hard drive.

When you take it out of the case and install in a computer check in the BIOS that it is detected
