My computer has been wiped out. I have no more files and I have been getting this error:
failed to save components for the file\\system 32.
Everything is gone. I tried starting in system restore and I can not get it to restore or fix. I tried to download spybot, I get an error. I am able to get on line, that is the only icon that remains.
I did the hijack this and this is my log below. I do not know how to get my things back? Thanks!

Reboot and when you see the maker's logo, hear a beep or it talks about F8, start tapping the F8 key slowly. Keep tapping until the Safe Mode Menu appears and choose Safe Mode with Networking. Login with your usual login.

Run HJT again, Scan only.

Check this line:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CEAdYGfMvFO.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\CEAdYGfMvFO.exe

Then hit Fix Checked.

Do not reboot yet.

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Double-click on the My Computer icon.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
After the new window appears select the View tab.
Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Press the Apply button and then the OK button and exit My Computer.

Right click on Start and select Explore All Users.

Navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

Look for any more files that end in .exe and right click and Delete them.
Navigate to:
C:\Recycle.Bin (if it exists.)
Delete All Files in the folder.

ComboFix
:!: If you have a previous version of Combofix.exe, delete it and download a fresh copy. :!:

:!: It must be saved to your desktop, do not run it :!:

:!: Disable your Antivirus software when downloading or running Combofix. If it has Script Blocking features, please disable these as well. See: http://www.bleepingc...opic114351.html

Download and Save this file -- to your Desktop -- from either of these two sources:
http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

Doubleclick on ComboFix to start the program.

* :!: Important: Have no other programs running. Your Task Bar should be clear of any program entries including your Browser.

* A window may open with a series of Disclaimers. Accept the Disclaimers to start the fix. Allow it to install the Recovery Console then Continue. When the scan completes Notepad will open with with your results log open. Do a File, Exit and answer 'Yes' to save changes.

A caution - Do not run Combofix more than once. Do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed, as this may cause the process to stall or your computer to lock. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop. Even when ComboFix appears to be doing nothing, look at your Drive light. If it is flashing, Combofix is still at work.

A file will be created at => C:\Combofix.txt. I'll need to see that in your reply.

Re-activate your anti-virus at this time :!:

I did as you directed and I am including my log. It appears to be successful as my start up menu now contains my things again. Thank you for your help. Please let me know if there are further steps I need to take. Thank you again.

I don't think we are quite done. Your Combofix log doesn't look like it worked or else you didn't copy it all.

Download TDSSKiller:
http://support.kaspe.../tdsskiller.exe
Save it to your desktop then run it.
Double click on TDSSKiller.exe
If TDSSKiller alerts you that the system needs to reboot, please consent.
When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents in your next reply.

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.
Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it
Click the "Scan" button to start scan
On completion of the scan (Note if the Fix button is enabled (not the FixMBR button) and tell me) click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

Now try Combofix again. Remember your anti-virus must be off while you are downloading or running Combofix.

You are right, it didn't work. When I turned the computer on this morning everything was gone again and I am back to step one. I attempted this morning but under safemode with networking I was unable to get a connection to the internet. One thing I noted last night was in safemode, I couldn't find my AVG, everything appeared wiped out there too? I will try your suggestions and repost the results. Thank you again.

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer to make sure it won't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
* If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
* On the left hand side, click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident icon in the list
* Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
:!: If you have a previous version of MalwareBytes', remove it via Add or Remove Programs and download a fresh copy. :!:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

SAVE Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
* The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
* Post that log back here.

Download, Save and Run unhide.exe from

http://download.blee...nler/unhide.exe

Download and save the AVG removal tool
http://download.avg....6_2011_1184.exe

Download and save the free Avast installer.
http://www.avast.com...ivirus-download
Uninstall AVG

Run the Avg Remover

Reboot

Install Avast. (Register when it asks you - they will try to talk you in to buying the full product but the free version is what we want.)
Once you have it installed and it has updated:

Click on the Avast ball. Then click on Scan Computer, then on
Boot-Time Scan then on Settings. Change the Ask at the bottom to Move to Chest. OK then Schedule Now. Reboot and let it run a scan. It may take hours.
Once it finishes it should load windows. Click on the Avast ball and then on Scan Logs, select the Boot-time scan report then View Results. How many did it find?
I think on XP systems the log file can be found in text form in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\boot.txt

I guess they are not coming back.

You may be able to get them back the hard way.

Go to Post #6 of http://forum.avast.c...2.msg703079#new

Find where it says:

Restore Accessories Program Files Menu

and follow what Essexboy says to do there.

See if you have more luck than the guy he is trying to help.
