Hi Ron, Yes I left about 4 icons on the desktop and they were there on reboot. The problem was my main account had vanished and so I had to use SR to get it back. As well as the icon problem I have just found that I need to keep re-installing WMP. It comes up with the message- 'The file wmp.dll has a version number 10.00.4008 where 11.0.5721.5280 was expected. WMP is not installed properly and must be re-installed'. I then have to verify the OS before downloading it and then on re-boot it has the same problem.

Well I'm ready to go back to the cloned drive now and then do a clean install when I get around to it. I'm sure it would have been easier for you if you were sat in front of my system but I'm ready to give up now. Thanks.

Steve.
