Hi Guys,

I have gone through all the preliminary software that you instructed us to install prior to posting our logs. I have done everything. After running all the setting up all the software the way you instructed and running all the test I continue to get alerts from ewido concerning betterinternet. I instruct it to clean but for some reason it continues to come up. I assume that ewido is having problems cleaning it. Anyway here are both may hijack this log and ewido logs:

Welcome rsderrick to Geeks to Go!

Download CleanUp!.
If that doesn’t work, use this link.

Go to options
Select ‘custom’
Put a check to:* empty recycle bins
* delete prefetch files
* CleanUp! All users.
Press 'cleanup!'

Once it's done, log off and log on again. This will remove files that were in use during the scan.

***

Open Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

***

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

***

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

***

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

O2 - BHO: WinStat - {F007E221-018D-4baf-924A-B0E9092F3853} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat11.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [olqfsjm] C:\WINDOWS\System32\olqfsjm.exe

O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

O16 - DPF: NDWCab - http://www.neededware.com/ndw2.cab

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

***

Restart your computer in normal mode

***

Download: deldomains.
To use: right-click and select: Install (no need to restart)
Should the link above display the text instead of downloading the file, then copy & paste the text into notepad and save the file as DellDomains.inf
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

***

Please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

If you have resolved this issue please let me know.

Here is both the Ewido and Hijack This Files. I was a bit confused about the deldomains. instruction I saved it inside notepad as instructed. Just As Instructed. After the Ewido Scan and when the Hijack this Files were ran, Some of the requested files that were to be deleted were non-existent. Hope this is normal. I did however see the neededware entries and they were deleted. Hera are the files you requested:

Did you install Covenant Eyes "internet accountability" software:
Surveillance software that tracks all activities, logs keystrokes, etc.

Download LSPfix.

***To start the LSPfix....Close all windows except LSPfix

Launch LSPfix.zip and install to its own folder, then click on LSPfix.exe. Or click on LSPfix.exe and it will launch the program.

In the left hand (keep) LSPfix window there will be a list of files including the identified file:

cespy.dll

Put a check mark in the box “I know what I am doing”

Move all instances of the identified cespy.dll file, from the left window (keep) to the right window (remove) by highlighting the file or files and clicking the arrow.

Click ‘Finish’

***

Regarding deldomain.inf

You say you saved it to a notepad file. Can you rightclick the file and choose 'install'.
Grant permission to let it be added to the Registry.

***

The log looks clean. How are things on your end?

Yes I have Covenent Eyes loaded on my computer and I don't want to delete it. I assume the instuctions that you gave me after the question are to remove it? (I don't want to do that). If they are not please let me know so I can continue to follow them. I haven't had any alerts from Ewido in th last 18 hours after following your previous instructions. I assume everything was taken care of. Prior to your instructions I continued to have a party poker icon come up on my desktop. That hasn't come back yet.

I await your final instructions. I will also make a donation. Thanks for the help.

Oke, you choose what to keep and what to remove.

The lsp-fix is to repair this line in HijackThis:
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'cespy.dll' missing

Regarding deldomain.inf:
Did you rightclick the file and choose 'install'?
[Grant permission to let it be added to the Registry.]

Installed deldomain.inf. Thanks!

Installed tool to delete O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'cespy.dll' missing. Confirmed deleted through HiJack This. It is gone.

Question: Do you know of any security issues or vurnerabilities with Covenent Eyes? I understand that it is a tracker and that is ok on my side for what it is being used for or to prevent but I want to make sure it hasn't caused the issues that I have had. I assume they are credible. Stressing the word assume. If you have any insight it would be appreciated.

I really appreciate your help. I'll be donating to the cause. Thanks so much.

It is surveillance software that tracks all activities, logs keystrokes, etc.

We have it under debate, but if you willing and knowingly installed it, you may want to keep it.

Thanks in advance for your donation.

Are there any issues at this moment?

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware, Malware, and Hijackers

  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Glad I was able to help.
