[Subliminal]

Hey all, been playing around for ages trying to work out how the smeg I can stop this BSOD occurring, it is always related to TCPIP.SYS and have attached the minidump files here. I am not sure on how to read these files myself but have read a few posts on people solving this or a similar TCPIP.SYS issue.

Any help is much appreciated on this matter.

Please Run the PCPitstop.com OverDrive Full Tests

Here's how:

You must use your Internet Explorer for this procedure. (doesn't work so well in Firefox or others). If your machine is running Vista or Windows 7, you must Select IE to “Run as Administrator”. After completing PCPitstop OverDrive you can close your IE browser and re-open it Normally so that you are no longer running as administrator.

Go to: http://www.pcpitstop.com
Click on "Free Computer Check-up" listed below PC Pitstop OverDrive
In the User Login - Click on "Sign up FREE!"
You'll need to submit a valid email address and create your own password, then click - Create Account(button)

Now enter your email address and password to Log in, Select - Scan this system Now!(button)
You will then be asked to download an ActiveX component and allow it to install.
It is safe and does not compromise your privacy.
Follow the on-screen prompts to install the ActiveX and to allow the Full Tests to be run on your machine.

The Full Tests take about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes on most machines.
When complete, a Results - Summary - Recommended Fixes will be displayed.

Please post the URL internet address, from your Results, back here into this Topic Thread so that we can review the configuration and present performance levels of your machine.

Note: During the graphics 2D and graphics 3D testing, your screen will display some rapidly moving objects.
If you are sensitive to visual flashing, it may cause dizziness. Therefore, look away from the screen during that portion of the testing.

After reviewing the results we will be more informed and may be able to provide better recommendations for you to work towards improving your machine's performance.

While PCPitstop does offer a variety of Paid Products, the PCPitstop OverDrive testing is FREE. Please ignore the references to Paid Products. We prefer to provide manual solution instructions that you can apply directly to your machine.

Thanks for the url the information there has identified a number of issues with out of date network drivers among them.
What you need to do now is click on each item that has the large X at the end of it and PCPitstop will prompt you as to how you resolve the issue.

Just installing SP3 and have done the other tuneup things it has recommended including updating the network adapter drivers. I am about to restart and hope this will solve the BSOD problem. Or maybe the dump files I posted previously will show that something else is going on?

Can anyone help me with how to read and understand .dmp files? I usually like to learn this stuff for future reference.

Going to give it a week or two before I will know whether BSOD has gone, but am just scanning my computer again with PCpitstop after making all of the recommended changes. Passed pcpitstop on to a few friends, its a noticeable difference in perfermance so far.

Just had a couple of BSODs in a row So that issue is still there sadly.

I checked my minidumps and it turns out the TCPIP.SYS is the culprit most of the time even after the driver updates, there are usually 3-6 other drivers involved too but all related to networking. I think there is a compatability issue with my network drivers and some third party programs.

I tried a microsoft 'fix it' yesterday that sorts out winsock errors, but it was just on a whim no educated guess. Any help is appreciated

You have 2 network adapters listed, disable/remove the device that you do not use including all software and drivers.

You should also update your flashplayer and address the other highlighted issues at PCPitstop as a priority.

Totally forgot I have both LAN and WAN enabled. I have disabled the relevant option. Flashplayer is updated, I cant see many more things I can do to improve things, 64bit OS is probably much needed especially as I am soon to pull the trigger on 8gb RAM upgrade.

It would be virtually impossible for manufacturers to test all other branded components for compatibility so the answer to your question is a difficult one, but I would look at the information provided by the MB and Ram providers Biostar and G.Skill respectively and be guided by it, see the Memory Support tab @

Nice link there, definitely around the pricepoint I don;t mind paying for 8gb of RAM.

I got another BSOD this morning but this time not tcpip.sys based for some reason I cannot see a minidump though. It was just an address 0x0000000A or similar, and no other hints. Definitely have a major conflict somewhere. I think I am homing in on it slowly, though
