I just ran a full system scan using avast! I had been noticing slower response time in Google and I hadn't run the scan in a while.

avast! detected a JS:Redirector-KT[Trj] in folder

C:\Users\Brigitte\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache\f_003b2

I moved the virus to the Chest as recommended, but everything I read on this virus has me very worried. Should I try to remove the virus and how?

Thank you for your help.

This is no longer an issue. I was helped by the folks at avast! The virus was in the browser cache, in a dormant state. It was caught because I did an on-demand scan. Had it become active, avast! on-access scanner would have alerted.

I cleared the cache, ran a boot scan with avast! and another one with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM). Both scans came back clean.

I'm pretty confident the thing is gone.
