Try Running the Application remover again and fully uninstall CA Anti Virus. You can also consider running Application Remover in the Safe Mode. Let us know how that goes. Remember only run 1 Anti Virus don't try to install any more.

Ran application remover again in normal mode and in safe mode. Rebooted. Still can't load AVG. Message says there is a conflict with CA Suite.

One matter I didn't mention is that CA Suite is still in Programs and Features and a full folder remains in Program Files - 37.7 MB.

Hi JPowell,

In post 30 you said "Microsoft Security Essentials" is installed. Why are you trying to install AVG? "Microsoft Security Essentials" is your Anti Virus program you don't need another one.

Lets try using revo uninstaller to remove CA Anti Virus.

Revo Uninstaller helps you to uninstall software and remove unwanted programs installed on your computer easily! Even if you have problems uninstalling and cannot uninstall them from "Windows Add or Remove Programs" control panel applet.

From the link above on that page where it says DOWNLOAD 30 DAY FREE TRIAL click that and download it. Use the program to remove CA Anti Virus.

I didn't follow instructions exactly. I found MS Security Essentials on my computer and it revealed no antivirus protection. Made a poor assumption that it was up to date and tried to load AVG. Have reviewed the message concerning downloading MSSE, downloaded it and now have MS virus protection. Apparently Revo did the job. CA Suite no longer shows up in Programs and Features and MSSE loaded.

Job well done by GtoG. Thank you and others if my messages were shared. Still 100% satisfaction.
